CHAMPION RED ANGUS BULL at the Kingaroy Show 1991 - 2yr old Mayo Herman J2 PK J2
For many years our family were committed Hereford breeders, however during the mid to late 1960s, I started to look for options to improve our cattle. I travelled almost full circle during the next ten years as I tried bulls of different breeds, all the while observing the qualities of our neighbours' Black Angus herd.
I first saw Red Angus cattle on Napiers property in Victoria in 1972. While I purchased two Murray Grey bulls there at the time, the qualities of Napier's Red Angus cattle inspired me to begin researching this breed. Subsequently, I contacted Jim and Beth Goodrich from Warroo for the purchase of a bull and a line of heifers. I was impressed by the strength and the straightness of movement of the cattle I saw running on everyday, traprock country. Warroo Petrel GG 88 was an outstanding bull in conformation. Warroo Quitchup GG Q1 was purchased by Jillangolo and was very influential in the Australian Red Angus herd. I used bulls based on a Warroo Rainbird 155AM/Warroo Kestrel 2nd GG Q11 cross up until 1993 when I purchased five bulls and the heifer Jillangolo Red Licene C90 . Eighteen years of drought seriously affected everything and our stud operation was reduced by 70%. During that time, I was able to purchase New Generation Kite F71. She was out of Warroo Kite X27 GG X27 who was bred on the same cross that I had used for years.

Horses have always been used and bred in our operation and were measured in campdrafting competitions or on the racetrack. We currently have three stallions in use on the property.
